We're just wanting to let you all know that from now on, Angelic Fruitcake will no longer be held at the Dove & Rainbow. This is mainly because of the landlord’s belief that having a jukebox rather than DJs will bring in more money and customers to the pub - if you have any opinions on this then please feel free to let him know (contact details on the Dove & Rainbow website).
We always recognised that the Dove & Rainbow perhaps isn’t the best venue for a less heavy alternative night, the majority of the customers being classic rock/metal fans, but it’s been a good 18 months and we’d like to thank everybody who came down to Angelic or who helped us out with the website, flyers and suchlike.
We’re currently looking into continuing Angelic at a different venue, so we’ll keep you posted with any new info. If anyone has any suggestions for venues which they think might be suitable then please do let us know.
Cheers all!

06:38 pm - New website
Paul has made us an awesome new website, with Tom's rather fabulous flyer design and lots of info on us, previous playlists and suchlike. It's at http://www.angelicfruitcake.co.uk - if you can think of anything else you think should be up there then let us know. We're planning on taking some photos at the next few Angelics and putting them up on the site, so get your best clothes on and comb your hair in case we get you!

09:22 am - 15th & 22nd January
Well, the first few Angelics of 2008 have been fabulous - lots of new people turning up and showing great enthusiasm for the stuff we've been playing. Cheers to everyone who's made it out so far this year...and if you haven't, hopefully we'll see you soon!

So what's new for 2008? Well, we have a marvellous new flyer that's been created for us by Tom (massive thanks again), it's being printed as we speak so hopefully it should be ready for us in a week or so and we'll be able to paper Sheffield in Angelic flyers.
We're also looking into the possibility of getting some more live bands on from time to time (any thoughts/comments on this? Recommendations for local bands who might suit the night?), so more on this later.

There's also going to be a very special event on Tuesday 12th February. The Dove and Rainbow has most deservedly been voted Pub of the Month by Sheffield CAMRA members (Campaign for Real Ale) and CAMRA will be coming on 12th Feb for the presentation, so it promises to be a hell of a good night. The festivities start from 8pm so make sure you come down early if you want a seat!

Here are the playlists for the last 2 AngelicsCollapse )

Happy 2008 to everyone! We hope you had a good Christmas and New Year and are all set for the first Angelic Fruitcake of 2008 - Tuesday 8th January. It's also my birthday the day before, so we'll be celebrating at Angelic if anyone needs an extra excuse to come along </shameless-attention-seeking>.

Three lots of setlists in one…the Angelic new year’s resolution will be to make sure setlists get written up a bit faster, I think.
Anyway. Here are the setlist for the last 3 AngelicsCollapse )

12:07 am - Angelic Fruitcake, Tuesday 23rd October
Apologies for the lack of setlists posted on here recently - life has been a bit hectic lately for one reason or another, so none of us have got round to posting them.
It was good to see some new faces at Angelic this week, hopefully we'll see some of them again. We had vast numbers of songs being requested, I think we managed to play most of them!

Here's the setlistCollapse )

We'll be back as usual from 8pm-midnight next Tuesday...bring yourselves, bring people who've never been before, and let us know if you have any requests!

07:18 am - Angelic Fruitcake - Tuesday 31st July
Last night was almost entirely made up of conversations that went like this:

Person comes up to the DJ booth and says "This is a really long shot, but I really really love this band and I'll be eternally grateful/love you forever/be completely gobsmacked if you've even heard of them, let alone have anything by them...have you got anything by *insert name of 90s indie band here*"

Us: "Yes. 3 albums, in fact. What would you like?"

It's nice to be able to make people happy just by owning CDs!
Anyway, hence the number of requests on the setlist...

07:39 pm - Midsummer Fruitcake, Tuesday 26th June
To combat the evil rain and anti-summer we seem to be having this year, the Angelic Fruitcake team have organised a special Midsummer Fruitcake on Tuesday 26th June. It's also the launch party for the bigger, better, weekly Angelic - we'll be going weekly rather than fortnightly from the beginning of July.

There'll be bands - the marvellous Vigilante Wing plus another band to be confirmed - and the Angelic DJs playing a special summery selection of indie/alt/rock/punk. There've also been a few changes for the better at the Dove & Rainbow lately - the stage is bigger and better, there's a beer garden being constructed as we speak, and even the toilets are all shiny and new. A rock bar? With nice toilets? Who'd have thought it!?

And just to get ourselves in the mood, we want to know how many summery songs you can come up with for us to play...which songs make you feel like it's the summer holidays? Reply here and then come down on the 26th to see if your song gets played...it probably will, you know us and requests!
